Throughline ("the app", "we", "us") is a focus and routine tool that breaks tasks into small steps and guides you through them one step at a time. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Throughline is intended for adults. It is not directed at children.
Throughline is a productivity tool. It is not a medical, health, or diagnostic service and does not provide medical advice.
Task text you enter. When you ask the app to break down a task, the text you type (for example, "clean the kitchen" or "prepare documents") is sent to our server and then to Google's Gemini AI service, which generates the step-by-step breakdown. Google processes this text to provide the AI response. See Google's privacy terms at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms and policies.google.com/privacy.
Usage logs. Our server records the requests it receives — the task text you submitted, the generated breakdown, and the time of the request. We use these logs only to understand how the app is used and to improve the quality of the app and its task breakdowns. These logs are stored in an anonymised form: the app does not require an account, and we do not attach your name, email, or a personal profile to these records.
Please note that task text may sometimes contain personal details if you choose to include them (for example, a reminder that mentions a name or an appointment). We recommend not entering sensitive personal information into task text.
Settings stored on your device. Your app preferences and settings are stored locally on your device. This information stays on your phone and is not sent to us.
Throughline may request permission to send notifications and to play alarm sounds, so that it can alert you loudly when a step's timer ends. This is a core feature of the app. These permissions are used only for this purpose.
Usage logs are kept only as long as needed to operate and improve the app, and are stored on our server (hosted with DigitalOcean). Settings stored on your device remain until you delete them or uninstall the app.
Throughline is intended for adults and is not designed for or directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app develops (for example, if we add sign-in, subscriptions, or new features in a future version). When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
